    New Page Create blank page or duplicate page

  • Edit the relationships between your data sets such as cardinality and cross filter direction

  • Define a calculation that is not stored but calculated on the fly by row aggregation

  • Publish your data set to Power BI service online to share and schedule reports

    View

    Name Description
  • Report View
  • The power BI canvas. (i.e main view where you make your visuals)
  • Data View
  • To see the underlying data and columns
  • Relationship View
  • Where you join tables together
  • Phone Layout
  • Arrange visuals choose how it appears on a mobile device
  • Gridlines
  • Show gridlines or snap objects to grid to style your report

    Modeling View

    Name Description
  • New Measure
  • Define a calculation that is not stored but calculated on the fly by row aggregation
  • New Column
  • Define a new column (aka calculated column) in your table
  • New Table
  • Creates a new table with one or more columns.
  • Sort Column By
  • Choose how to sort column, or to sort based on another column in table. (ie. Month number, month name).
  • Format
  • The format of your data (i.e currency, decimal, percentage)
  • Data Type
  • Common data types include decimal number, fixed decimal number, date, text, boolean
  • Home Table
  • Displays which table a measure was defined in
  • Data Category
  • Applies a label to your column name for clarity or organization
  • Default Summarization
  • Choose how to display columns in a dataset (don't summarize, sum, avg, min, max, count, count distinct)

    Format

    Name Description
  • Edit Interactions
  • Specify which filters and slicers will effect a visual. (Default: slicers and filters apply to all graphs and visuals on a page).
  • Bring Forward
  • Visual will remain in front of another visual.(i.e arranges the z-index)
  • Send Backward
  • Visual will remain behind another visual(i.e arranges the z-index)
  • Align/Distribute
  • Helps you position and arrange your visuals vertically and horizontally

    Data/Drill (a hierarchy is need to enable this feature)

    Name Description
  • See Data
  • Shows all record corresponding to the level of the visualization
  • Show next level
  • Shows all data grouped together associated with that level
  • Expand Next level
  • Shows all data in the next level, but ungrouped.
  • Drill Up/Drill Down
  • Drill up or down on a specific section of data. For instance from year level drill down to quarter, month or day level for that specific year
  • See Records
  • Shows all records for a specific select group
  • Group
  • Create a group in the fields section to group together multiple data dimensions.
